It is clear that the slot has taken inspiration from the previous player favourites Jammin’ Jars and Jammin Jars’ 2. Just like its predecessors, Retro Tapes also has a classic retro feel, as the name suggests. But instead of a fruit theme, this one has a music theme, and you can enjoy a vintage 80s soundtrack while spinning the reels.
Retro Tapes is a bit different from your standard video slot in the sense that it has a cluster pays mechanic. This means that there are no paylines, but instead you win by forming clusters. The slot also comes with an array of other fun features such as Wild Tapes, Wild Multipliers and instant prize symbols.
The tapes are the regular pay symbols of the game, and they come in various colours – green, blue, grey, orange, pink and red. They pay between 0.1 to 2x your bet for clusters of five. If you hit a cluster of 20 or more matching tapes, you can win between 5x to 1,000x your stake. Each time you form a winning cluster, it disappears from the grid and gets replaced by new symbols thanks to the cascading mechanism, giving you the opportunity to win more.

WILD TAPE SYMBOLS
The Wild Tape symbol acts as the game’s wild. It can substitute for all other symbols except for the Magnet Symbols and the Wild Multiplier symbol. All Wild Tapes have a multiplier attached to them starting at 1x. When they are involved in a win, the multiplier increases by plus one and stays on the grid until the next round.
WILD MULTIPLIER SYMBOLS
Wild Multiplier Symbols can appear both in the base game and in the bonus game. The multiplier value of the symbols ranges from 1x to 5x. When Wild Multipliers land, they send their multiplier value to all Wild Tapes on the grid and then turn into Instant Prize Symbols.
INSTANT PRIZE SYMBOLS
Instant Prize symbols have multiplier values ranging from 1x to 1,000x. When they land in clusters of five or more, their values are paid out.
MAGNET SYMBOLS
When a Magnet Symbol lands, it will randomly select one type of paying symbol and then pull these around its position to form a winning cluster. If the Magnet selects an Instant Prize symbol and four or more of them are present on the reels, it will pull them into a cluster. The Magnet Symbol then turns into a paying symbol or Instant Prize symbol after a cluster has been created.
If a Magnet symbol lands during the Top Charts Feature, it has more features and benefits. It will attract all Instant Prize Symbols that are not locked in a selected area of the grid. It then transforms itself into an Instant Prize Symbol and creates a cluster win.
TOP CHARTS FEATURE
The Top Charts Feature is the bonus game in Retro Tapes. During this feature, all Wild Tape Symbols and Instant Prize Symbols from the base game will be carried over and stay in place. The empty positions on the grid will then be filled with either Wild Tapes, Wild Multipliers, Instant Prizes, Magnets, Extra Spins or Blank Tapes. If Instant Prize Symbols land, they will be locked in place for the remainder of the feature and prizes are then paid out once the feature ends.
