GRIM THE SPLITTER DREAM DROP: SLOT OVERVIEW
Last Updated: May 30, 2024Written by Stephen Cummings
Released in 2023 by Relax Gaming, Grim The Splitter Dream Drop is a card based horror themed slot. Compared to the other slots in the Dream Drop network, this one is quite unique. Thanks to the layout, graphics and sound effects, you almost get the feeling that you are playing cards with the devil himself. But can you find a way to beat him? Because you know how the saying goes, the devil never loses!
Join us to find out. In this review of Grim The Splitter Dream Drop, we will cover its RTP, features, payouts and the good and the bad.
GRIM THE SPLITTER DREAM DROP RTP AND FEATURES
The RTP of Grim The Splitter Dream Drop is 94%. However, some of the money goes to the jackpots so outside of these the RTP is only 82%. This is definitely on the lower side, even for a jackpot slot. Although some progressive jackpot slots have an even lower RTP, most tend to be somewhere around 95%.
As for features, there are some great ones here. The two main ones are the free spins and of course the jackpot game, but there is also a Splitter feature which is quite fun. We have covered them below.
Features in Grim The Splitter Dream Drop:
- Free spins
- Bonus game
- Progressive jackpots (5)
- Scatter symbols
- Wild symbols
- Splitter feature
THE SPLITTER FEATURE
The Splitter feature is triggered when a wild symbol appears on the reels. The feature will split the reel into two duplicates, copying both the wilds and the regular symbols. It is possible to split the reels once during the base game and across all five reels during the free spins.
FREE SPINS
The free spins feature is triggered by landing 3 or more scatters across the reels. You will receive 7 free spins to begin the feature and an additional free spin for each exceeding scatter. So if you land 4 scatters, you will begin with 8 free spins and so on. Also, you will receive an additional free spin for each scatter you land during the free spins. If the scatters split, you will also receive an additional free spin.
DREAM DROP JACKPOTS
Just like the other slots in the Dream Drop Jackpot network, there are a total of 5 progressive jackpots that can be won – Rapid, Midi, Maxi, Major and Mega. They all have different starting values, and the jackpots rise in value as players play the slots in the network. Here is how much you can win:
- Rapid – Starting at £1
- Midi – Starting at £5
- Maxi – Starting at £100
- Major – Starting at £25,000 and can go up to £50,000
- Mega – Starting at £500,000 and can go up to £10,000,000
At the time of writing this review, the Major Jackpot is at £49,235 and the Mega Jackpot at £2,881,453, so the slot is definitely hot right now. Once a player wins one of the jackpots, it resets and goes back to its starting value as listed above.
The jackpots can only be won during the Dream Drop jackpot feature which is triggered at random before regular spins. If triggered, you will be taken to a separate jackpot game which contains 15 cards. You get to open the cards one by one until you have 3 matching jackpot symbols.
GRIM THE SPLITTER DREAM DROP MAXIMUM PAYOUTS
The maximum payout in Grim The Splitter Dream Drop is 10,000x the bet excluding the jackpots. This is pretty good for a jackpot slot as many only tend to have top payouts in the base game of 500x to 2,500x. With that being said, there are a couple of ones like Arabian Nights and Jackpot Giant that offer base game payouts of up to 50,000x, so there are still a few better ones out there in that regard.
STRATEGIES FOR PLAYING GRIM THE SPLITTER DREAM DROP SLOT
Grim The Splitter Dream Drop is a fully luck based slot, so there are no strategies that you can use to improve your chances of winning. There are also no active features that can be activated or deactivated, so you are really in for 100% randomness here.
The only recommendation I can give you for this specific slot is to opt in when the main jackpot (Mega) is hot. Since it starts at £500,000, I would probably wait until it reaches at least a million before playing. Because of the relatively low RTP of the game, you might as well go for the big wins if you are going to play!
ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES
Grim the Splitter Dream Drop has some pros and cons that needs to be covered, although I was positively surprised when playing this game. I must admit that the low RTP had me worrying at first, but there are plenty of other great features to make up for it. The best part about the slot is obviously the chance to win some massive jackpots, but I also found the card based gameplay quite entertaining. Below are my main findings.
Advantages:
- 5 progressive jackpots
- The Mega Jackpot have the potential to reach £10,000,000
- Unique card based gameplay
- Payouts of up to 10,000x in the base game
Disadvantages:
- 94% RTP is below the average
- No multipliers
THE SLOTSHAWK VERDICT
“Grim The Splitter Dream Drop is a unique card based slot game that is highly entertaining. Although the low RTP drags down the total score, we must say that Relax Gaming has done a great job on this one.”
